Khina Maya Tamang, 45 She is from Dagapela and lives at Walakha ( 2.5 Kilometres away from Khuruthang Vegetable Market and the Public Toilet ). She has a child and earns around 6450/- per month and her last month's salary is yet to receive. She sweeps the entire vegetable market area and also looks after the only public toilet at Khuruthang. It almost takes a week for her to sweep the entire market. Sometimes she finds it unmanageable when vegetable vendors starts coming in for the weekend sale before Saturday.   Maintaining the only public toilet all by herself is also difficult. NIIT (Chigphen rigphel Project) Crash Course Tutorial

It all started on 29th January 2013 with two resource persons from Tshenkharla MSS. We were 15, mostly women and only 5 of us were men. The class began when other friends who have already attended were heading home after the PGDE program. 15 of us got stuck here, shivering and feeling the cold wintery wind creeping through the pajamas. Old mates, Sherab Tenzin, Ishor Kumar, Rinchen Lhamo and Yangchen Lhamo are also attending this course. We are trying to have fun despite the cold. Lady luck was not much on our side for we couldn't continue with our course. Announcement was being made that there will be no power supply during the day and will only provide in the evenings. So we had to change the plans to take it in the evening from 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. As I write this in my blog, I am already feeling the numbness on my fingers because of the cold. My legs down the knees are hit by extreme cold wind. My tummy is rumbling and feeling giddy at times, maybe I am hungry...hahahahaaa.....

The Sin

  “Give way! Give way!” shouted the driver as a patient on the stretcher was pulled from the ambulance by few sturdy men, and was rushed to the Emergency Unit at the Mongar Referral Hospital. Everyone in the hospital watched with open mouth as they saw the patient in a horrible state. They saw her eyes and body twitch in uncontrollable convulsion as if possessed like the village shamans. She was in dead pain and foams dripped from the corner of her dark purple lips. Nobody moved a muscle. The hospital unusually became silent for a moment except the screeching of the roller of the stretcher being pushed over the cemented floor inside the EU. After few agonizing hours, the Doctor came outside the EU and told those sturdy men that the patient was put out of danger.
