The OBS...The Voice of Orong

Image
Initially it began as The Voice of Orong in 2008. There was not much response from the students. Many have never heard of it and had no experience on it. With a lot of reluctance from the students I went ahead of introducing it in the Club (Literary Club). I made them to read the stale news of the Kuensel and practice in the club beofre it was aired in the assembly. For few months, all the members had a tough time in reading (poor reading habit). As months passed by, they became more confident in their speaking and finally could make it in the Assembly courtyard only in 2009. OBS going LIVE... Ever since its establishment, much progress can be seen in the conduction of the program. Every saturday is the NEWS HOU R and Orong Boradcasting Service ( OBS ) broadcast news both in English and Dzongkha, alternatively for 15 minutes during the morning Assembly. Varities inlcude News Reading, Interviews (Hard Talk), Guest Appearance and Live Debates, which encourages a lot of students

The MoE Secretary visits Orong

At 3.30 pm Aum Secretary along with the Chief HRO of MoE visited the school. She is on tour and Samdrup Jongkhar will be the 8th Dzongkhag that she will be covering after Trashigang. While on her way to the Dzongkhag headquarter, she made an arduous journey of 12 km towards our school. Meeting with the teachers she explained on various roles that the school can play in getting our students educated in a most desired way so as to equip them 'for the real world'. She also explained on about the Pelkhil incident and tried to get opinion from us, to which she got a sinister silence in reply. May be its her first visit to the school or may be teachers are meeting her for the first time. All kept their mouth shut like a well disciplined soldier in front of his/her Boss. Her visit to the school is an important coz she can see the realities of the school. She found the school to be beautifully located and has great potential in becoming a 'Role Model School' in the dzongkhag,

Student Orientation on 10 core Life Skills

Today the classes were called off. The teachers who attended the workshop on SPEA and Life Skill held at Samdrup Jongkhar last winter are presenting on the basic requirements for the students all round development in their daily learning. The main objective of today's orientation was on to create awareness among the students about their adolescent period. Many of the youth related issues stems from when the students are not well aware of their strengths and weaknesses. Today's program is to let them realize and make a reflection on their daily lives. It is a good program indeed for the students. The topics presented to the students were some of the basic essentials in their daily lives. They must know and realize it. They can't simply keep it aside and ignore. First there was the presentation on the 10 Core Life Skills that they needed to comprehend. Second presentation was on the GNH in schools. Third was about the realization of their Rights and Duties as a student. Fo

SBIP...and to the Students

This is what I talked on to my teacher friends and to my students during the presentation. I presented on Fundamental Rights and Duties of an individual citizen and as an individual student. Mainly focused on their (students') roles, responsibilities and their rights as a student. In these times of ever changing society, the trend of being civic-ally educated is fast losing its essence. So as to fresh all of them I did present on the following... Fundamental Rights (Article 7) What? ü   HJ Laski, “are those conditions of life without which no man can be at the best.” ü   Citizens + State = reciprocal relationship. ü   Citizens get benefits from the State and enjoy certain rights, which are fundamental for the all-round development of an individual. ü   They are known as Fundamental Rights. ü   Fundamental Rights guarantees equality to all citizens without discrimination. ü   These rights have been given in the Constitution and no government can violate or abo
