A brief beginning at Dechentsemo Central School

Lately I have been involved in volunteer work with Bhutan Toilet Organisation founded by one of my buddy Passang Tshering who is popularly known as Passu. Ever since I got involved in his endeavour to make Clean Toilets in Bhutan, I am very much impressed by his dedication. I salute for his great, yet simplistic initiative to not only to educate but also make all Bhutanese responsible in maintaining clean toilet. I actively went around, participated in this initiative and also took part in coordinating cleaning toilets outside my very own home school. With the help of volunteers from institutions we did very well. Not only did we cleaned toilets clean but also went on to spread words on the logic of having clean and better toilets. As a cliche runs, 'healthy habits begin with clean toilets' , I with the help of the School Health Coordinator, initiated a mass proper cleaning school toilets today. The MoE Secretary visits Orong

At 3.30 pm Aum Secretary along with the Chief HRO of MoE visited the school. She is on tour and Samdrup Jongkhar will be the 8th Dzongkhag that she will be covering after Trashigang. While on her way to the Dzongkhag headquarter, she made an arduous journey of 12 km towards our school. Meeting with the teachers she explained on various roles that the school can play in getting our students educated in a most desired way so as to equip them 'for the real world'. She also explained on about the Pelkhil incident and tried to get opinion from us, to which she got a sinister silence in reply. May be its her first visit to the school or may be teachers are meeting her for the first time. All kept their mouth shut like a well disciplined soldier in front of his/her Boss. Her visit to the school is an important coz she can see the realities of the school. She found the school to be beautifully located and has great potential in becoming a 'Role Model School' in the dzongkh...

The Sin

  “Give way! Give way!” shouted the driver as a patient on the stretcher was pulled from the ambulance by few sturdy men, and was rushed to the Emergency Unit at the Mongar Referral Hospital. Everyone in the hospital watched with open mouth as they saw the patient in a horrible state. They saw her eyes and body twitch in uncontrollable convulsion as if possessed like the village shamans. She was in dead pain and foams dripped from the corner of her dark purple lips. Nobody moved a muscle. The hospital unusually became silent for a moment except the screeching of the roller of the stretcher being pushed over the cemented floor inside the EU. After few agonizing hours, the Doctor came outside the EU and told those sturdy men that the patient was put out of danger.
